Underneath the toilet-room one must have a space for the composting tank of at least a 140 cm x 140 cm square with a height of 65 cm. If the house will be kept warm year-round, then it is advisable also to insulate the technical room below the floor where the composter will be installed.
The composter is installed on even, frost-resistant, well-supporting surface. The maximum total weight of the composter is 400 kg. The weight under normal usage is 200–300 kg. All parts of the composter can be carried in through a 60 cm wide door. The composter has an electric fan (12V/4W), that fans air into the 100 mm ventilation pipe attached to the lid of the composter at a rate of 20 cubic meters per hour. The ventilation pipe must always be directed upwards in such a manner that the ventilation will function naturally also during electric shortages. It is advisable to insulate the ventilation pipe. The fan can be powered also by an electric solar panel. All pre-cleansed liquids are extracted from the composter via an exhaust hose (ø 19 mm) and can be mixed with the other household waste water (grey water).
One side of the composter must be accessible for emptying of the composter. A full compartment provides you with 50 litres (one wheelbarrow) of composted soil. One 230 V 50/60 Hz electric outlet located indoors near the composter is needed for the fan. Other option is to use solar power for the fan.
Toilet seat from sanitation plastic
(included as a default)
In the picture a toilet seat made from white sanitation plastic above the composter. The diameter of the composter is 1340 mm. The centre of sewage pipe (ø 200 mm) is 370 mm from the centre of the composter, 230 mm from the rear edge of the seat, and 295 mm from the front edge of the seat. The strong white seat is easy to keep clean. The width is 400 mm and the height 410 mm or with elevation 460 mm. The advisable distance of the toilet seat from the back wall is ~10 cm.
Porcelain toilet seat
In the picture a toilet seat made from porcelain above the composter. The diameter of the composter is 1340 mm. The centre of sewage pipe (ø 200 mm) is 370 mm from the centre of the composter, 400 mm from the rear edge of the seat, and 220 mm from the front edge of the seat. The width of the porcelain seat is 390 mm and the height 465 mm
Dimensions of the composter
Total volume 650 litraa
Height 62 cm
Diameter 134 cm
Weight 50 kg
The ventilation of the toilet room is effected via the toilet seat. If you want to install additional ventilation to the ceiling, it is possible to connect the additional ventilation pipe ø 100 mm to the rear part of the sanitation plastic toilet seat. This is important if you have shower in the same room with the toilet. If you use porcelain seat, then the additional ventilation pipe can be connected to the composter that is situated under the floor.
Electric bidet can be fitted to Ekolet sanitation plastic seat.
It is also possible to add electric heater 230V/140W under the composter to speed up the composting process. The electric heater can easily be installed later on.
The composter comes complete with all the necessary parts and instructions (including 6 m of the 100 mm diameter ventilation pipe). The assembly of the EKOLET toilet is easy and one doesn’t need to have any special skills in electric installations or sewage assembly.
