Ekolet Oiva (formerly Ekolet ULKO VU) is the most complete toilet on the market. Four-hole – that’s why it’s so easy to use

The ingenuity of the Ekolet Oiva dry toilet is based on a rotating four-litre carousel tank, which is turned over every year as a rule. Therefore, for the first four years, practically nothing needs to be done to the toilet. And even after that, you’re only on the receiving end: every year for four years, you get fully composted, fermented soil – easily and odourlessly.

Unique four-hole operating principle

The Ekolet Oiva dry toilet’s four-litre capacity also ensures natural 100% composting. When the compartment is full, you can spread a thin layer of mulch on the surface and simply roll out a new compartment for use.

The liquids from the toilet drain through the filtered intermediate floor to the evaporation level and from there to the cleaning basin. From there, much of the liquids evaporate with the air circulation. The nutrient-rich leachate that does not evaporate is biologically purified and can be safely discharged to the ground, for example to an underground rock pit around which plant roots can draw nutrients. There is therefore no need for separate liquid collection and post-treatment. Leachate should not be discharged or directed into lakes, which are already rich in nutrients.

You can spread the resulting compost soil as a plant nutrient. A full compartment makes about 50 liters of soil, i.e. just under a wheelbarrow. Although it is often mentioned in connection with compost toilets that food waste can also be composted in them, we still recommend separate composts for them, so that the small larvae of fruit flies do not migrate to the tree and cause a fly problem. The natural air circulation through the large (internal diameter 160 mm) ventilation pipe keeps the toilet effectively odor-free – without electricity.

Ekolet is also a safe choice thanks to its guarantee. We only use first-class and long-lasting materials. The plastic parts are UV-protected polyethylene plastic, the metal parts are stainless or hot-dip galvanised steel and the metal wheels are aluminium.

All parts are covered by the warranty, except for the filter cloth bags of the seat and compartments. We recommend cleaning or replacing filter cloth bags after two cycles (8 years). We grant a 20-year frame warranty for the plastic container of the composter and a 10-year warranty for the metal parts. We grant a one-year warranty for other parts. The warranty covers technical defects and defective components in terms of materials and manufacturing.

An easy outdoor toilet to install, maintain, use and own

The Ekolet Oiva composting dry toilet has a simple and reliable design and is easy to install. There are no parts that would prevent it from working if it broke or became blocked. The capacity of the composting dry toilet is sufficient for about four people for 2-3 months per year. Thanks to its efficient liquid extraction capacity, no additives such as litter are required during use. Of course, dry matter can be used if desired, for example for aesthetic reasons.

The appliance includes a hand wash basin on the lid. If your solution already has a hand-washing area, the Ekolet basin can also be used conveniently as a leaf rack. The dry toilet can also be used in winter and the heating seat is comfortable to sit on even in cold weather. Ekolet is easy to keep clean. Thorough cleaning of the seat is easy thanks to the hinged seat ring and cover.
